At Quiet Givers, ensuring local kids are equipped to thrive in the classroom often means tackling the unseen challenges families face behind the scenes. From our very first need, when a school social worker reached out about three siblings who only had one pair of pants each, our goal has been clear: remove obstacles so children can focus on being students.
It was wonderful seeing so many familiar faces at the recent Back to School festivals in Avery and Watauga! As the new school year gets underway, your generosity is already making a tangible difference for students and their families across our community.
Here are a few ways you’ve helped bridge the gap recently:
Summer Care & Enrichment: Thanks to your support, we covered summer childcare and camp fees for multiple local families, ensuring kids had a safe, engaging place to learn and play while parents worked.
Essential Home Accessibility: We provided a specialized shower chair to assist a family in safely bathing their disabled teenager, bringing comfort and relief to their daily routine.
Support for Educator Families: We provided crucial rent assistance for a dedicated teacher assistant whose own children manage a genetic health condition requiring frequent travel off the mountain for specialist care.
Removing these daily strains helps set up the whole family, especially the kids, for a successful school year. We love stepping in to meet the unique, immediate needs that traditional programs often miss.
